AFK Journey v1.1.16 Update: Talene, New Modes, and Quality-of-Life Fixes

AFK Journey v1.1.16 update introduces S-Level Celestial hero Talene - Resurging Flame, more Stellar Crystal sources, and cooperative Guild Supremacy.

Anyone who has spent time in Esperia knows that patch notes can mean the difference between a smooth grind and a confusing week. AFK Journey’s v1.1.16 update, which went live after maintenance on July 3 from 7:00 to 8:00 UTC, added a very long list of features. Players who logged in after the downtime found a new Celestial hero, extra Stellar Crystal sources, a cooperative Guild mode, and dozens of quality-of-life improvements.

A New S-Level Celestial Hero

The biggest draw is Talene - Resurging Flame, an S-Level Celestial Hero. Celestial units tend to be flexible and powerful, so many players will want to test her in different formations. She arrives with the usual Celestial rarity weight, but the patch also gives players a direct route to acquiring one of several powerful heroes.

A new Growth Trial asks players to clear AFK Stage 1125 in Starter Story. The reward is a Glorious Select Hero Chest. From that chest, players can pick Talene, Phraesto, Reinier, Dionel, Scarlita, or Berial. The note about retroactive eligibility is important: anyone who already passed AFK Stage 1125 before the update still gets the reward. That avoids the frustration of being punished for early progress.

More Sources for Stellar Crystals

Stellar Crystals became easier to collect in a few ways. First, the Guild Store now offers four more Stellar Crystals each month for Diamonds. Second, non-Champions can now buy Stellar Crystals in the Arena Store. The exact number depends on Arena Tier, with higher tiers from Epic I to Legendary II unlocking more purchases, up to a total of 10.

Champions, on the other hand, had their weekly purchase limit trimmed from 5 to 3. The overall effect is still positive. Over a four-week cycle, non-Champions can go from 0 to a maximum of 10 Stellar Crystals. Champions can go from a maximum of 20 to a maximum of 22. It is not a massive jump for Champions, but it gives smaller accounts a meaningful way to catch up.

New Cooperative and Competitive Content

The update added Guild Supremacy, a mode where guild members work together to defeat bosses of different difficulties for rewards. That kind of content tends to make guild activity feel more coordinated. Spider Wasteland was also added as a new Battle Drills map for future rounds.

Dura’s Trials expanded with floors 21 through 25. Clearing floor 22 and floor 25 unlocks Magic Charm Wish Lists, which should make charm farming feel less random.

Starter Story Optimizations

Several changes specifically help newer players and players pushing through Starter Story.

  • Past AFK Stage 700, the three battle options are replaced by Single-Team and Multi-Team options, matching Song of Strife.

  • At AFK Stage 1125, all players on the server become eligible for Infinite Quest. This mode lasts until the new season begins and includes Infinite Stages with clearance and ranking rewards.

  • There is a small catch: Infinite Quest is only available on new servers launched after the version update. Older servers receive compensation within three days.

  • An Auto Progress feature was added for AFK Stage. When enabled, battles run in the background, though not in the app’s background, so players can still explore the World Map or join other battles while pushing.

  • Trial of Abyss was reduced from 450 floors to 150 floors without reducing total rewards. Players received compensation based on their existing progress within three days.

That last change is a huge time-saver. The total rewards stay the same, but the floor count drops by 300, which makes the climb much more manageable.

Quests, Formations, and Dream Realm

A new Story Quest called The Uninvited Guest was added, along with a Bounty Hunter Reputation Quest. Dream Realm received a Share Formation feature, allowing players to share the formation they used against a boss with others on the server.

That kind of social feature can be surprisingly useful. Instead of explaining a formation over and over, players can simply share it.

Magic Charms, Heroes, and Balance Fixes

Magic Charms got several adjustments. Branco Essence can now be used on the Magic Charms Details interface to activate any Mythic Magic Charm for a hero. The Magic Charms Overview interface was added, and some Dura’s Trials interfaces were optimized. The cooldown for replacing Mythic Magic Charms was also removed. In addition, the Healing and Vitality stats on Magic Charms were swapped so the enhanced stats match the heroes equipping them.

Power calculations were improved in Trial of Abyss and Dura’s Trials. Different level stat bonuses, buffed heroes, and Magic Charms now factor into the displayed Power number. That means Power should be a better indicator of actual strength instead of a rough guess.

Several hero fixes were included:

  • Igor - The Mad Dagger: fixed Spectre Guard sometimes not triggering correctly.

  • Phraesto - Abyssal Illusionist: illusion damage now appears in his total battle damage. The battle effect remains unchanged.

  • Reinier - Symmetric Sin: fixed Dynamic Balance failing to grant buffs or swap after interruption, and fixed a swap issue with Scarlita.

  • Ulmus - Grove Keeper: fixed incorrect special effects after taking root.

Artifact, Duel Store, and Battle Changes

Artifact upgrade requirements changed for 1 Star and 2 Stars. At 2 Stars, players can choose one Legendary Equipment, though that equipment is not available in Duel Store. Artifact XP and Random Ascension were added to Duel Store, and Artifacts that rely on certain heroes or factions received battle experience optimizations. Some Artifacts can now boost the chance of obtaining heroes from specific factions.

Duel Store also stops showing duplicate heroes once heroes reach max level. That is a welcome change for players tired of seeing useless copies.

One important battle rule changed: at the end of a battle, the outcome is determined by the number of surviving heroes on the battlefield. If both sides have the same number, it is a draw. This can change how players evaluate close fights, especially in PvP modes.

More Quality-of-Life Improvements

The patch also included a huge number of smaller fixes. The speed multiplier increased after speeding up battles in modes like Supreme Arena, Battle Drills, Arcane Labyrinth, and Dream Realm Endless Mode. Player profiles now include a Synergy shortcut for Synergy Battle, Proxy Battle, and Corrupt Creature, so other players can quickly team up. The Squad settings now have an Auto Change option. Missed Primal Lord Rewards can be claimed. The Guild Display Wall layout was optimized, and Guild Lobby atmosphere was improved.

Other tweaks include more frequent events during Astral Fair, hints in Sorting Stall, adjusted quest difficulty, mini-map events that can be tapped for Auto Route, and automatic opening for Plain Chests and Glamour Chests. The previous Proxy Battle formation is now saved. The Balanced power mode with 60 frame rate received a better experience. Emporium resource verification speed increased during updates. Finally, PC players who logged in after the update received an exclusive Wild Explorers frame.

Overall, v1.1.16 was a substantial patch. It did not just drop a new Celestial hero; it also made progression fairer, added new cooperative content, and cleaned up many small frustrations that players had learned to tolerate. For players still deep in Esperia in 2026, these changes remain a useful foundation for how modern progression and quality-of-life systems feel.
